Danmachi Abridged is a further example of how far abridging has come in terms of quality and definition. Once just seen as a low-quality take with (at most) one person with poor acting and editing ability making a mockery of everything the original show represented, abridging is now something that actually COMPLEMENTS the source material, as well as improving on it (i.e. making digs at the original's flaws, generating humor based on the original's universe).

Danmachi Alphabet

They aren't always Shakespeare, but they're genuine. And that's what's really impressive about abridged series.

WRITING

The abridged version begins much like the original does; with Bell returning from the dungeon after being covered in blood. And that...is where the similarity begins to end.

Danmachi Abridged (or How to Be An Adventurer, as it's called), plays out with many stark differences. One key difference may or may not play well with you all. The shows humor relies a lot on sex jokes, focused primarily on Bell. Usually against his will, he is forced to deal with a lot of women in his life, who are all after his business and are casually rewritten to be thirsty as s***.

Alphabet

The fight scenes retain their awesomeness, and actually complement this Bell's personality (I'll get to him in a minute). The jokes were hard to get into at first due to how much dirtier they were compared to other abridged series, but I soon came to love YaroShien's take on this universe, much like how I loved Danmachi after hating it when I first saw it.

CHARACTERS/VOICE ACTING

BELL CRANEL

'You know, maybe all the women in my life will wake up one morning and say 'You know, maybe I'm being a bit too thirsty!' '

(Voiced by YaroShien)

Unlike the original, this Bell is not free-spirited, has more luck with women than he either wants OR deserves, and is only ever kind when he wants to be.

In other words... He's an asshole.

But unlike a certain OTHER asshole in the abridged universe, Bell is not quite as condescending to others, and actually shows genuine concern about the people in his life, even to the ones trying to break his d*** on a constant basis. YaroShien does an amazing job bringing life to Bell, especially during fight scenes and comic line delivery, so that is definitely a highlight in my book.

HESTIA

'You're not my father, but I'll still call you daddy!'

(Voiced by IzanamiVA)

I remember the biggest complaint of the original while it was still airing was WHY THE HELL was Bell stalking an EMOTIONLESS BADASS GIRL when he had a BIG BOOBED GODDESS with skimpy clothes thirsty for him the entire time. Well, apparently I wasn't the only one who noticed, as Yaro makes great effort to course-correct this error. And by course-correct, I mean he takes the car, kills the driver, leaves him on the side of the road, and then turns the car in the other direction, never once looking back behind him.

Much of this Hestia's writing has to do with her sex addiction to Bell. During some occasions, she even threatens other people to stay away from him lest she crush them to death with buildings (because apparently that's what the Goddess of Architecture does to people who threaten to take her d*** - I mean, man - away), smiles Bell if he even so much LOOKS at another women, and many potential attrotcities yet to come. IzanamiVA is AMAZING as HESTIA, able to deliver the most dirtiest of lines with relative ease, as well as being able to switch from the adorable-sounding sex addict to the aggressive serial-killing sex addict with just the simplest tome change.

EINA TULLE

(Voiced by Alifluro)

While she plays a background character, much like in the original, Alifluro managed to add a sense of dirtiness and craziness to YaroShien's lines that has catapulted Eina Tulle to one of my favorite abridged characters ever! Serving as Bell's dungeon advisor, she secretly has an obsession for his 'boo-Tay' for reasons (initially) unexplained. She will literally leap at any chance she can get to help Bell whenever he needs it, on the off-chance that it will get her inside his pants. To quote our hero himself, '[she is] DAMN THIRSTY!!'

Alifluro, like IzanamiVA, is ALSO no stranger to voice acting. Heading her own Norogami abridged series, she is a very experienced abridger, and it shows in how easily she was able to slip into character, whereas most people would be embarassed to say HALF the lines her mouth utter in this show.

AIZ WALLENSTEIN

Alphabet
'Have you ever thought about practice in principle?'

(Voiced by JadeTheFirefox)

At first glance, this Aiz seems exactly similar to her original counterpart; a mostly silent badass who seems very level headed and can kill a lot of monsters with relative ease. But first glances are ALWAYS misleading in abridged series!

This Aiz is actually an S-class pervert. Her travails include - spying on one of her teammates to see his d***, stalking Bell on a regular basis, and probably a list of other sexual crimes we probably don't even know about it yet. JadeTheFirefox did an amazing job delivering her lines with a straight face, exactly what should be expected of ANYONE who plays Aiz Wallenstein.

EDITING

The first two episodes partly turned me off because of how the voice acting was edited, particularly when two or more characters talked over one another. Luckily, Episode 3 had little complaints from yours truly, so Yaro must have done something right.

Nothing more I can say about editing; while not quite on par with things like SWE or Team Four Star, it is highly impressive considering it's mostly Yaro doing a lot of the writing and editing. So kudos!

OVERALL

I went into this show not expecting it to like it as much as other abridged series, or even as much as its original (surprisingly...). However, a few rematches and an AMAZING Episode 3 made this a top favorite on my list! I highly recommend you give this show a watch, particularly if you're waiting for your ACTUAL favorite abridged series to UPDATE once in awhile!

(LOL! Kidding! To all you abridgers out there, we all appreciate the work you do, usually at great expense to yourselves, to make amazing, condensed iterations of our favorite anime shows. We all salute your efforts, and while many of us don't have the financial support to aid you in your amazing work, our hearts are with you every step of the way. Keep doing what you do in the best way you can!

After all, it's not done when we say do: it's DONE when it's DONE!!)

Danmachi Abridged can be found under YaroShien's YouTube channel, titled as How To Be An Adventurer. There are currently 3 episodes, although with all the other abridged shows he is doing, that is pretty solid!

I rate this abridged series a 8.5 out of 10. (needs some polishing, but otherwise, an amazing abridged show)

Danish Alphabet

Learning the Danish alphabet is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. Without it, you will not be able to say words properly even if you know how to write those words. The better you pronounce a letter in a word, the more understood you will be in speaking the Danish language.

Below is a table showing the Danish alphabet and how it is pronounced in English, and finally examples of how those letters would sound if you place them in a word.
